Hanul Art School – Policies and Guidelines

Program

  1. Students may register for programs at any time depending on class capacity, except for Baby Artist and Summer Programs.
  2. Little Artist, CreArt, and Bridge Art programs are designed as a structured 40-lesson curriculum offered over the course of one year. Students may continue beyond one year if they wish, but the minimum registration period is 3 months.
  3. Fine Arts classes operate based on each student’s individual schedule and project progression. The minimum registration period is 3 months.
  4. We do not offer private lessons. New classes may be created with a minimum of 3 students, and the time arrangement for newly formed classes can be negotiated.
  5. All materials are covered by the tuition fee except for canvases. Canvas fees will be posted. Students may purchase canvases at the school or bring their own.
  6. Due to the use of paint and various art materials, students’ clothes may become stained or damaged. Working clothes or an apron are required. We are not responsible for clothing damage during class.
  7. Classes run back-to-back. Please ensure timely pickup and drop-off to avoid disruptions.

Exhibition and Participation Fee

  1. The annual Hanul Art Exhibition is held in June. Participation is optional but encouraged for all students.
  2. Exhibition participation includes an exhibition fee, frame fee, and event admission ticket. The exhibition fee is provided at the time of registration, and the amount may vary each year.
  3. Since most students participate in the exhibition, registration will be automatic unless parents notify us otherwise.
  4. If you do not wish to participate, you must inform us by February 15.
If no notice is provided, the exhibition fee will be automatically added to the March payment through pre-authorized debit.
  5. Participating students will receive a certificate and a participation gift. Frames used in the exhibition may be taken home after the event.
  6. A reminder and detailed exhibition information will be provided prior to the February 15 deadline.

Registration, Fees, and Make-Up Classes

  1. New students must pay a one-time registration fee at the time of registration. This fee is charged only once and is not collected annually.
  2. Registration fee and the first month’s tuition (deposit) may be paid by cash, debit, credit, or cheque.
  3. Monthly tuition payments are accepted only through Pre-authorized Debit, and a void cheque is required to set up automatic withdrawal.
No other forms of monthly payment are accepted.
  4. Credit card payments are available only for amounts over $300. For payments under $300, a 3% processing fee will apply.
  5. Monthly Tuition and Class Frequency
    • Tuition is fixed per month and does not change based on the number of weeks.
    • Classes are provided on a four-lesson-per-month basis.
    • Some months may contain three or five weeks, but the yearly total balances to an average of four lessons per month.
    • In five-week months, the fifth class is an additional bonus class and is not part of the required four lessons.
    • If a student discontinues during a five-week month, they may finish after completing four lessons, even if a fifth class is scheduled.
  6. If a student wishes to discontinue, at least 15 days’ notice is required to stop payment for the following month.
If notice is not provided, the next month’s tuition will be charged.
  7. If a student will be absent, please mark the absence on the website before class begins. Once marked, a makeup credit will be issued and may be booked for a future class.
  8. Makeup classes may be placed in a different level depending on availability; students will still complete the lesson or work they missed.
  9. Make-Up Credit Expiry
    • Makeup credits are valid only for the current registration season (September to June) or semester.
    • Unused credits will not roll over or be refunded.
    • When discontinuing the program, all remaining makeup credits expire immediately starting from the discontinuation month.
  10. NSF payments will incur a $25 fee.
  11. A family discount applies to families with multiple children enrolled. The first child pays the full amount, and a $10 discount is applied for each additional enrolled child or each additional class taken within the same family. Baby Artist and Story Art are excluded from this discount.

  1. Students must follow classroom expectations to maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.
  2. Students may not touch or damage other students’ artwork, projects, or belongings.
  3. Students must handle all art materials carefully and use only the supplies provided by the instructor.
